Back of heel pain

About 4 months ago I seemed to have pulled the tendon on the back of my foot while running. I have tried resting it and stretching it both, but it doesn't seem to be improving. It causes me to limp slightly when walking after sitting for 5 or 6 minutes, but then improves. However, if I work out it seems to be bad the rest of the day and the next day. Any suggestions for how to treat this?

Heel Pain
by: Mitch - MTS

Even though I have not looked at you, I'm willing to guess that based on the information you have given me and the amount of time it has gone on, that your issue is a biomechanical issue, and it likely stems from your hips. If I were treating you, the first place it would look to is your hips because you likely have a leg length difference right now which is causing you added strain on that achilles and causing you to strike differently with every step.

You can learn more about this by visiting our pages devoted to lumbopelvic dysfunction and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Once you have a handle on what it is that I'm talking about, I would look in your area to find a good chiropractor or osteopath who can get you put back in place and go from there.
