Increasing Muscle Mass of the Calves
by: Mitch - MTS

Increasing muscle mass (also known as Muscle Hypertrophy) is most easily performed by increasing the volume of training of the desired muscles. So, when performing exercises for the calves, perform 3-5 sets (you can even go up to 10 sets if you want as you get stronger) and keep your reps in the 10-20 range. If your reps are in the lower end of this range, increase the number of sets and vise versa.

As for exercises, you will want to perform both standing and seated toe raises. Bodybuilders typically perform both seated and standing toe raises in 3 different planes to increase their size and shape. This includes toes straight, pointed inward, and pointed out. You can do them single leg, double leg, or both. The key is mixing it up and varying it over time so not to plateau or get bored.
